  • Go for a walk

  • Have a Plan B

  • Relax

  • Be aware of triggers  - what effects your mood and your cared for’s mood?

  • Write down your feelings – keep a diary( it can be useful to look back on)

  • Use humour

  • Don’t be alone – sharing is key

  • Move on – remember previous positive outcomes

  • Step back

  • Be in the moment

  • “Cut and paste” or “Cut and delete” negative feelings

  • Look for support,talk to others (especially other carers)

  • Listen to music

  • Dance – can be in the house,dance while you dust!

  • Exercise ( you can do this while doing chores or sitting down/in bed)

  • Sing

  • Read

  • Remember to laugh and joke

  • Take a break ( can be 10 minutes)

  • Use a “primal scream” – shout into the boot of your car
